This has been a fantastic year for Buzznet and we hope it's been good to you too.

I've seen tons of cool Christmas photos today so I wanted to show you a few that struck my fancy.

Alright rock stars, everyone has totally impressed me with the previous assignments so im sure you will excell at this one too.

I live in Hollywood California - theres a lot of things out here from fake boobs to fancy cars to multi million dollar homes. But theres one thing that I dont see very much out here and it blows my mind: holiday decorations.

When I grew up in the midwest it seemed like Everyone decorated their house from the outside to the inside.

Now there are some exceptions in LA and I will try to show them to you because they really stick out in this ultra-mellow holiday town.

So if you want to take pics of your house, your neighbor's house, your block, or even some strange and unique small decorations that you display in your house - knock yourselves out.

Just make sure to tag them as both "decoration" and "assignment6"

It must be close to Christmas as all the Santas are in the hizzy.

Here are some of my faves:

 

Wild Orbit is a Buzznet evangelist.

She tells everyone on her block about our site, she tells everyone at her church about it, she tells everyone in her family.

And then they actually sign up!

But last night Wild Orbit did something that I love about this place: she heard something was happening in her neighborhood, went to the scene, and not only took the pictures, but uploaded them.

If you havent heard, last night a Southwest Airlines plane slid down a wet, icy, snowy runway at Chicago's Midway airport, crashed through a wall, and crushed a car tragically killing a young boy.

For those of us who spend far too much time at the computer screen sometimes it takes first hearing the news online before turning on the tv.

So I want to thank Wild Orbit for her speedy reporting, lets hope that next time we see something first on Buzznet it's happier news.

When I was a little kid the best thing about Christmas wasnt the days off, it wasnt the stupid presents, it wasnt the snow

it was meeting Santa Claus

even though i was devoutly religious (still am) there was something fascinating about the big jolly elf. the old man. Kris Kringle right there at my local mall.

now that im older and i have no kids around me, added with the fact that i live in California i have not seen a Santa Claus anywhere...

and the homeless guy wearing the discarded pimp suit doesnt count.

so heres your assignment through Monday - take pics of images of Santa in and around your neighborhood. im talking Salvation Army Santas, mall santas, decorations featuring the old lug... anything that scream out "yeah it's Jesus's birthday but here's The Man Who We Allow Access to Our Chiminey's In the Middle of the Night."

make sure to tag your pictures "santa" and "assignment5" (no spaces) and over the course of the next few days i will put up some of the better ones.

so much so that i could get as many pictures on here as i could.

do yourselves all a favor and click on the buzzword Assignment4 because you guys really went above and beyond.

i particularilly like how much bowling was done :)

The bosses are letting me out a little early to celebrate Britney Spears' 24th Birthday so here's Assignment4

Go out and have a great weekend and take pictures.

some people might ask why both buzzwords? simple, after the assignment is done you want other people to find your pictures, say, a year or two from now. odds are they wont look for "assignment4" they will look for "weekend". all the pics below were found using the "weekend" tag.

so go fishing, go swimming, go shopping, go skiiing, sit around the house, do your laundry, make out with that cutie youve had your eye on, bake a cake, mow your lawn, shovel the snow, learn to bowl

but take pics.

then upload them

then tag those bad boys

then sit back and enjoy the majesty.

One of the coolest things that I've noticed in the six weeks that I've worked here is how much Buzznet acts on the suggestions of the community here.

Part of the recent feedback that we got was how much people love the Music section.

Infact the communities that have been formed by the fans of groups like Fall Out Boy, H.I.M., Tsar, and now INXS are accounting for a huge amount of activity on Buzznet.

As a matter of fact, today, because of a suggestion by a Buzznet user, we added some special love to No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani on the Music page.

Today we will be going to the new Virgin Megastore in Hollywood to take pictures of INXS's cd signing, where we are special guests, and as we head into 2006 you will see us partnering up with more bands who want to be part of this, your, community.

As we grow we would like to know which bands you would like us to be working with here at Buzznet.

If you go to the Music Section you will see a list of bands that we have either communities set up or we are featuring buzzwords for.

There are two ways that you can draw attention to your favorite bands:

1) post pictures and tag them with their buzzword, aka "tsar"
2) in the comments below, let us know what groups you'd like to see us working with.

Don't be shy, let it out.  We won't know what you're into unless you tell us.
