Sometime this week - maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow morning, maybe later, the biggest music festival in the West will announce its lineup.

Over the years great bands have played at the festival outside Palm Springs about 90 minutes away from LA in the lush mellow polo fields.

Thousands of fans have been able to enjoy the likes of Beck, White Stripes, NIN, Arcade Fire, Weezer, Bloc Party, Iggy Pop, Bauhaus, Bjork, Wilco and the like...

So as we wait in joyful anticipation for the annoucement of this year's lineup we ask you... who would you like to see there this year?

As you may or may not know, Buzznet started after Marc Brown attended the festival and realized that there should be a photo sharing community of people who go to events like Coachella that are more than simple concerts but truly memorable "happenings".

And this year Buzznet will announce an official relationship with the event... so stay tuned, and tell us who do you hope will play.

Today an audio tape was released with a voice that was reported to be that of Osama Bin Laden.

He said that there are still plans to attack the US again, but he could be persuaded to have it canceled if there was a truce between Al Queda and the States.

"We have no objection to responding to a long-term truce according to equitable conditions which we would honor … so that the two sides could enjoy security and stability under this truce, and so that we could rebuild Iraq and Afghanistan, which the war has destroyed," Bin Laden said. "There are no flaws in this solution, which would prevent the flow of billions of dollars to the people of influence and the warmongers in America, those who supported the Bush electoral campaign with billions of dollars."

So what should we do? Draw up a reasonable truce with these people, or stay the course?

these is not people that you hope dies - that would be gross. these are people who you think will die. big difference.

so pick em, post em, and cross your fingers.

also the person who gets the first points on the board will also get a prize.

as for people who are dying right now. theres some controversy about ariel sharon or gerald ford. me, i dont care who you put on your list - as long as theyre famous. but there is something to be said for sportsmanship in a game with as rich of a history as the deathpool. so play well.

Thats called a double whammy in some parts.

Because of the Marc Brown rule, anyone who has someone on their list die before the 15th gets those points, and gets to replace that person on their list.

Yes it's that time of year again to speculate on the macabre, to guestimate on the gruesome, to forcast the unthinkable...

it's time to pick your guesses for the Buzzblog 2006 Death Pool

the game is real simple, predict 10 people who you think will die in 2006.

create a journal with their names in a list from 1-10.

the numbers are important because you get points for each number

for example here are my picks

now lets say the honorable Vice President kicks the bucket, I would get 10 points. If Dick Clark bites it, I would only get 2 points. So put your favorites with the high numbers and your long shots with lower numbers.

To prevent cheating, everyone who would like to participate should also provide their list in the comments of this thread.

And to keep us all together, use the buzzword "death pool 2006"

The deadline for entries is 1/20/06. If you make your picks today, lets say, and someone who you pick dies before 1/20 you will be allowed to submit a replacement.
